Classroom Furniture: Everything You Should Know

One of the most essential items a school must not forget to have is the classroom furniture. Whether the piece is for elementary, preschool, or daycare school, the classroom furniture should be age-appropriate and comfortable. The basic classroom furniture is classroom desks, classroom chairs, chair desks, and tables.

For the chairs, some details should be noted. From style, to height, to construction, durability and base, these factors must be of utmost importance to be able to select the perfect classroom furniture for the school and for the students. The height must range from 12 to 18 inches, accommodating every age. It is also best to get adjustable seats to suit all sizes and ages. For the style, you can choose from the standard, stacking, shell, swivel, or the teacher chair. Each holds a different function, best for library and classroom spaces.

The base varies on the classroom floor. The many types include sled bases, caster based and the four legged. As for the durability and construction, make sure the materials of your product are made of highest and finest elements. Choices can come from hardwood, plastic, or tubular seats.

The classroom desk meanwhile varies according to height, base, group compatibility, durability and additional features. The frames of the desk must be in full-chrome steel or constructed. They won’t dent or bend. Its surface must be made in hard plastic or laminated for easy cleaning and scratch-free. The desk can have a book storage underneath which is also an essential feature for the student’s school materials. Like chairs, the base and the height of the desk must be compatible with the student’s age range.

Chair desks are another essential classroom furniture. This can save a lot of space and will considerably maximize the classroom area as well. Usually, it has two bases: the sled and the four legs. Four legged types are for hard-floor made classrooms while sled base are for carpeted classrooms. There are also chair desks attached with arm configurations, both for left or right-handed students.

Classroom tables depend according to its functions. There are tables for the library, science classroom or laboratory, activity tables, cafeteria tables, or children’s tables. Each has its own design, purpose, and style. Tables are a kind of classroom furniture that may create a significant, extra space and even functions as a counter space for the classroom.

The collections of classroom furniture are vastly displayed in the market. Heaps of choices are available and the selections will all depend on the needs of the institution, catering every student and every teacher.
