Proper Discipline To A Barking Dog

Dogs are one of the domesticated pets that are ideal for homes. This is seen through a growing number of dog owners in the world. To those who are planning to get one too, which will serve as their home pet or companion, make sure to familiarize the characteristics of the dog breed before making a purchase.

There are pet dog takers who get rid of their pet months later after realizing that it never caters their expectations. This is normal to those dog owners who were not able to get acquainted with the dog's personality, temperament and characteristics. One instance are the barking dogs, which excessively bark compared with other breeds.

So how do you get rid of this kind of dog personality without getting rid of the dog totally?

Steps
Scold the barking dog when it starts to bark and say your firm "No". If it will bark again, get a spray container loaded with water. Using an unhappy tone, firmly repeat the "No". The tone of one's voice is important. If someone has a weak voice tone as well as body language, a barking dog will give a different reaction to assertive- and strong- toned voice. If your barking dog continues to bark, stay calm and do not give up. Repeat the firm and negative-toned "No".

Never hit your pet dog except if it becomes part of breaking them up with a fight to another animal or person. Some individuals believe that hitting a barking dog with rolled up papers stops them from barking. This is actually seldom effective besides posing only negative consequences. Scaring your pet dog is also not recommended.

Be patient with keeping your barking dog silent. Repeat the firm "No" command and if possible, combine it with the spray container. The moment your noisy dog stops barking, have him do his formerly learned command such as sitting, and most importantly, appreciate by giving a calm praise. Yet never praise when the barking stops for it might believe that you are praising him for the bad manners.

If these steps fail, other dog owners suggest the spray collar or electronic shock method but they are unethical and inhumane. This expensive equipment can stop barking dogs from barking yet it will actually make the training harder, giving an unhappy and uncomfortable environment to your pet.

These steps are not quite positive however they are an assertive way of calming down a noisy barking dog, which not only disturb the family yet also your neighbors. Besides, dogs who are barking do not necessarily mean they are being aggressive. Sometimes, they need attention and human affection or a built-up energy result.

As much as possible, discipline your pet dogs in a humane way. Hurting them might only worsen the situation.
