Livestock Awareness: Uses Of Livestock

Long time ago, people felt the cravings for flesh as food. People in that era have later managed to roam from place to place tracking and hunting animals for food as well as plants. And several thousand years ago, people began to housebreak different kinds of livestock. Livestock are domestic animals that are used to produced foods and many other important products. Strongest and expensive qualities of leather and wool are made of the skins of some livestock and livestock can also help lots of people because some organs of it can supply drugs.

Farmers in developing countries use livestock to draw farm utensils. Some livestock in these countries also convey groups of people and materials. Most livestock are raised on farms, but some people nurture small livestock like chickens at home.

The main kinds of livestock raised throughout the whole world are pigs, poultry, cattle, and horses. And the science of breeding, rearing, and caring for livestock is called animal husbandry. Animal husbandry basically means breeding and taking care for animal for a profit in the future.

In almost all corners of the world, livestock provide such food products as meat, butter, cheese, eggs, and milk. These foods contain large amounts of vitamins such as protein that can benefit people who are eating these. It builds new tissue and maintains and repairs old tissue in a person’s body. Animal food products also supply minerals and vitamins that people need for good health.

Livestock is not only necessary for people to have a lot of income but it is also for people who want a lone-time good health investment. Many have their own animal farms not for selling but more on saving purposes. Instead of buying and purchasing to big-time manufacturers, they take care of food animal themselves.

Today, modern of methods of rearing livestock have increased production and efficiency.

Livestock also provide valuable by-products as fur, hair, leather and wool. These materials are used to produce blankets, brushes, clothing, shoes, and other goods that are sold mainstream. Manufacturers use the hoofs and horns of livestock to make buttons, combs, glue, and knives. Other livestock by-products are used by the preparation of livestock feed.

Some of the glands and organs of certain livestock are used to make drugs like epinephrine, insulin, and pepsin. Processed animal fat, called tallow, can be made into livestock feed, shortening, and soap. Some manufacturers also used the feathers of ducks and geese in making insulated clothing and bedding.

Every year, livestock deposit tons of body wastes that fertilize the soil. This organic fertilizer increases the growth and food production of many plants.

Through the years, automated farm equipment has reduced the use of horses as working animals in most parts of the world. Today, people in developed countries use horses primarily for recreation and for racing and sports.

Livestock really have many uses and people benefits from it a lot. It is only important that people who want to have their animal farm to know its uses and everything that goes around the world of livestock.
