Pet training is fun and challenging, not to mention that it is nearly impossible without the proper skills and pet training aids. When pet training, always set a goal for you and what your pet can do. Up to what extent of tricks do you want your pet to learn? But most of all, what type of pet do you want to train in the first place so that you can begin looking for appropriate pet training aids?

Pet training aids are essential in pet training so that they are available in different types for a variety of purposes. Major types of pet training aids include bark collars, remote trainers, repellents, training pads, and whistles. Not included in the major category but might as well be considered part of training are pet treats that serve as positive reinforcement which most often elicit good behavior from pets during training.

Bark collars – dogs seem to require several training aids than other types of pets but they’re also the best trained of all other pets. Repellents – these items can prevent your pets (cats, dogs) to chew or scratch on almost anything inside your house, including priceless furniture, freshly painted walls, fences, blankets, etc. Choose environmentally-friendly repellents that have been proven safe for pets (and you) even though they can sniff the chemicals.

Training pads – available in washable and disposable materials, training pads enhance obedience by teaching your pet to stay on the pad when told to. These pads are also used to protect beddings and furniture. Choose scented pads that help hasten the housebreaking process.

Whistles – usually made of metal suspended on a chain, whistles are great for calling out to your dog during training so he can tell the difference between play and training. It’s also a way of imposing your authority over your pet in a kind but disciplined manner.

Smaller pets don’t usually require several items of pet training aids but it can help to watch videos of how to train certain kinds of pets and learn from other pet owners/trainers.
