There were many important changes taking place in the US in regard to veterinary medicine during the World War II. Driven by fear that foreign enemies would try to sabotage the livestock in the US to cripple food supplies in the country, the government promoted the study of veterinary medicine. This of course led to more people studying to become doctors of veterinary medicine.

Though the war passed off without major sabotage of US livestock it did help to create a small army of doctor of veterinary medicine who in turn became adept at using more modern as well as innovative and also very effective drugs that were able to combat diseases of which shipping fever and foot rot were good examples.

It was also a time when the doctor of veterinary medicine was a person that was much sought after by farmers that owned extensive herds of livestock which needed to be protected and so the demand for doctor of veterinary medicine grew in those times with many universities also enrolling large number of students who wanted to qualify to become doctor of veterinary medicine.

These books need to contain a lot of information on different aspects of veterinary medicine including botany, veterinary anatomy, zoology and a lot more. Some of these books contain enough information to help prospective doctors of veterinary medicine become knowledgeable about veterinary medicine so that they have little trouble in earning their degrees.
