How To Organize Your Closet: The Total Closet Overhaul

There are people who experience "Aha!" moments in their lives simply because they have finally found the things that were considered lost. There are also other people who waste so much time searching for their things in their closet.

What do these people have in common? They all need a closet overhaul!

In reality, organizing one's closet can be the most rational thing to do, because aside from the fact that the person can save much-needed time, a neat and orderly closet stimulates a sense of tranquility and relaxation.

Therefore, for people who wish to know how to organize a closet, here are some tips that they can use to help them keep their things well organized inside their closet:

1. Unused clothing should be discarded.

If a person has a number of unused clothing in his or her closet, it would be better if they would take them out and discard those that they no longer wear.

The rule of thumb is that if a certain dress or shirt was not used for almost two years, then, the person who owns it will probably not wear it again.

2. Identify the problem areas.

Upon emptying the closet, the person should try to analyze and identify the problem areas. Where was the mess at it's most extreme?

In addition, it would be better if the person will try to assess himself or herself if he or she would like to change something. Would he rather have a bigger space for his shirts? Would she want an equal space for everything? It is all a matter of careful analysis of the area.

3. Maximize the full storage potential of drawers.

It would be better for an individual to maximize the full potential of his or her's drawer space. This can be done by using dividers wherein they can separate one item from another.

In addition, segregating clothes or accessories into sections makes them much easier to find when needed.

4. Use the closet floor.

For areas where clothes can be kept hanging, one can still use the floor for items that can be folded. In this way, more space can be consumed without having to clutter areas or leave spaces that are not used.

5. Stacking bins are great containers inside the closet.

Stacking bins can also be used to keep small things that will only appear scattered and messy when directly kept in the closet.

Boiled down, organizing a closet is not a tedious job. It just needs a little imagination and dogged determination to get things properly sorted and arranged in order to have a well-organized closet.
