Organization Chart: Embodying An Organization's Structure

Representing the organization's structure, the organization chart is a diagram that corresponds to the formation of a group according to ranks. Represent

It typically displays the sub-workers and managers who create an association. The organization chart also displays relationships among the organization staff. They can be the following:

Line - this is a direct relationship involving the subordinate and the superior.

Lateral - this is a relationship among the different departments but of the same level of hierarchical in the organization.

Staff - this is the relationship between the managerial assistant and other departments. The assistant is responsible for offering advice to the line manager. Nevertheless, they do not have any authority over the actions of the line manager.

Functional - these are the relationship among the specialist positions and the other areas. The specialist normally possess the authority to be adamant about the line manager's responsibility of implementing any of given instructions by the company specialist.

In a lot of large business corporations, an organization chart can be incredibly complicated and large and is thereby occasionally divided into smaller organization structure for every individual area in the organization.

The three organization chart types are the following:

Hierarchical Organization - this organization is structured and designed for each entity in the group to become subsidiary to a solo other body. This is the dominant and usual organization mode of large organizations, which mostly compose of organized religions, governments and corporations.

Matrix Management - this is an organizational management kind where people who have the same skills are grouped for work projects. For instance, all engineers are in the engineering department, reports to the same engineering manager yet these same set of engineers can be dispersed to different assignments and reports to their project manager while completing the project. Thus, every engineer has the possibilities of being under a number of managers for the job to get finished.

Flat organization - its other term is horizontal organization; this refers to an organizational structure that has few or no intervening management levels among the staff and the managers. The idea of a flat organization is that, a well-trained worker gets to be more prolific when involved directly in the process of decision making, compared to being strictly supervised by a lot of management layers.

Organization Chart Limitations

It only displays formal relationship and it does not say regarding the human relationship patterns that develop. Another limitation points to showing nothing regarding the adopted style of the managers such as democratic or autocratic. Lastly, the organization chart quickly gets out-of-date, particularly in large groups that cause regular staff change.
