Tips On How To Organize A Garage Sale

Holding a garage sale is a good way to get rid of things you no longer need and make money all the same. To make the activity successful, you need to pour in a good deal of time and effort. In some cases, those who do not know how to organize a garage sale tend to back off thinking that it is just going to take too much of their time.

If you are considering, but do not know how to organize a garage sale, here are some simple tips that you may want to follow.

First up, gather up the things that you want to hold out for sale. Sort them into categories and set a price for each of these items. A god way to price your items is to add about 10% to 30% off of its original price, depending on its condition as well. Also to save time, you need not individually price like items. Simply put like items in one box and put a sign that indicates the price of each item inside. Make sure that the price is conspicuous for everyone to see.

Once your items are already sorted and priced, decide how you want to display them. Make sure that the manner by which you are displaying your items can easily catch people's attention. Make your display attractive and organized.

Then, set a date for holding your sale and stick to it. This way, you are less likely to put a day off or two when preparing for the activity. You may want to inquire in your local office whether a permit to hold a garage sale is necessary, just in case. Comply with the requirements and follow the guidelines, should a permit be required.

Advertising is also important to get people to come to your sale. You can post ads in local newspapers, distribute flyers or by spreading it by word of mouth. Moreover, you may want to post garage sale signboards around your neighborhood weeks before opening your sale.

Make sure that everything is all set up at least a couple of hours before opening your sale. This way, you will still have ample time to do last minute checks. Be willing and open to negotiate prices. Have shopping bags ready for customers who will buy multiple items. After the sale, you may want to give away or donate unsold items to charity.

Knowing how to organize a garage has never been that simple!
