Stress Management And Stressors

In the past with general practitioners, it used to be the patient stating their medical problems and the doctor giving the prescriptions. Now it is mostly the patient stating about their medical condition with the doctor checking his home, work and peer environment. You know why?

Stress Management.

Once unknown, stress was only recently discovered to be the culprit of hundreds of well known diseases. Yes, they do not directly cause the disease but they have substantial effect. By numerous researches, it is known to contribute at large to lowering the immune system and introducing myriads form of illnesses. Like the most common of them form, migraine and insomnia. Others are stroke, heart problems, weakening of the appendages, inability to facilitate sex, manic disorders, severe depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and general anxiety disorders. There are lot others.

How does stress affect us so? The answer is our biology. Our auto-response system, though generally effective, is rather outdated. Just like a certain achieving computer programs e.g. like the Windows OS, it does well enough though there are those certain “errors” that couldn’t be repaired. Our response to stress is described by a 1929 American Physiologist Walter Cannon to be a Fight-or-Flight response where the sympathetic nervous system discharges nutrients and primes us for activity. A clear example of the situation would be the release of adrenaline in preparation of a run.

This Fight-or-Flight response also triggers with psychological stimulations, and this is where stress management and stressors takes importance. As the nervous system reacts to a stress condition, it affects the body on several ways. One of them is releasing fluids that, when not used up, can cause headaches that over time would develop to migraines which usually leads to insomnia. So what does stress management and stressors need?

In order to have effective stress management and stressors awareness, you need to identify those probable instances that might trigger these responses. And after, you should also know how to divert those unused, pent up energy, sometimes in forms of rages or disappointment.

Stress Management and Stressors

Anxiety is a giant cause of stress. Anxiety could be caused by several unpleasant and complex factors. Anxiety can be from an approaching deadline or event, a crumbling relationship, or the anticipation of something unpleasant. Frustration, pent up and repressed anger can lead to stress.

Though exhaustion can be physical, exhaustion can also take on a mental form. Its mental form is also a considerable factor in producing stress. Overwork is a common form of mental exhaustion and leads to stress. One of the examples is a work area cluttered with unfinished tasks.
