Stress Relief Tips For Physical And Mental Wellness

Stress can affect a person greatly because it can either energize an individual or cause health problems. Several symptoms of stress include feeling anxious, scared, irritable and moody. Also, stress affects a person’s thoughts like having a low self-esteem, lack of focus, a fear over something (decisions, future plans etc.) and pre-occupation.

Based on the records of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, at least 80 percent of health care is spent on diseases related to stress. These include hypertension, migraine, anxiety, allergies, lung problems and heart disease. There are several stress relief tips that you can follow to eliminate stress. These are the following:

Taking Deep Breaths

This is the most basic among stress relief tips. All you have to do is to inhale through your nose and pull the air down to your lungs. Afterwards, hold your breath for 6 to 10 seconds then slowly exhale through your mouth to the count of six. You can do this exercise for several minutes but be sure not to hyperventilate. This can cause dizziness and if this happens, try breathing normally again.

Express Your Feelings and Thoughts Freely

Talking to someone is one of the best stress relief tips that you can try. You can try talking to a doctor or counselor. You can also join a group in your community or church. It will make you feel a lot better if you express all your feelings and thoughts freely. Consider getting a dog especially if you are alone at home. Many consider dogs to be good listeners.

Take Time to Relax and Have Fun

You can always look for an activity that makes you feel good like listening to music, playing sports, taking pictures, gardening and other things that will keep you busy. Find an activity that you will enjoy. Doing something that you enjoy can help you release your tension and stress.

Be Happy and Laugh

Laughter is a good way to relieve stress. You can read funny stories and watch funny movies to have a good laugh. You can also visit sites over the Internet and engage in fun conversations. Being happy is also one of the top stress relief tips that anyone can advice you.
Try to be Positive Always

There are a lot of negative energies around us and negativity causes stress. If you are entangled in a web of negative people, try your best to shield yourself from the negative things that they can pass onto you. It does not mean that you should stay away from them but from their negative moods and attitude.

The stress relief tips that were discussed are just some that you can try. There are several other ways to reduce stress and you can take note of the things you do or have done in the past that helped you deal with stress and come up with your own list of stress relief tips for your own use or to give to someone else.
