Having the players practice simple throw, catch and hit drills is one of the best ideas. This may seem a little too simple but it will help by getting their muscles warmed up. This seems pretty simple but helps in ways you can't even see. This is going to help the players get warmed up before a game and have their muscles loose and limber so they avoid spraining or pulling any muscles.


You could also set up a drill in your baseball lessons where one player would throw only fastballs to the others. Fastballs are often the hardest type of pitch to hit, so this would be a great area for the kids to focus on. The power bat drill is another which is extremely successful. The power bat drill also works well and the purpose of this drill is to help players develop power.


Baseball players gain increased power through point of contact and the goal of this drill is to have the hitter strike a heavier ball than normal without having the baseball bat decelerate at the impact point. This is going to help them gain increased power in their arms and more accuracy with their swing. The colored ball drill helps improve focus of the players and for it you will need several different colors of balls. The pitcher will be supplied with three or four different colors of balls and will then call out the color of ball in their hand before throwing it.


The hitter is only able to take a swing at the ball if they see that it is in fact the color that the pitcher shouted out to them. You want your team to work on these baseball lessons on a regular basis to ensure they're always making progress and improving their skills. You want to have your players working hard and winning games but also striving to be the best baseball player.
