Tips On Buying Baseball Gear: Finding The Right Bats And Gloves

Getting prepared for a baseball game is so important. There is a lot of different baseball gear that you could purchase but buying bats and gloves is the best place to get started. These are two of the most vital pieces of baseball gear and those which will have the greatest impact on your game overall. It depends what purpose you will be using the bat for as to what size it should be.

If you're looking for a baseball bat to use in tee-ball for instance, it would be used by children ages 5 through 7. These bats should have a barrel with a diameter of no more than 2 1/4 inches. There are also Little League bats which are a little larger, and used for children ages 7 through 12. The heavier bats are around the minus 7 weight drop point while the lightest bats are around minus 13.

The Senior League bats are the second largest in size at 2 5/8 to 2 3/4 inches. Finally there are the high school and college bats which are the largest and heaviest, anywhere from 30 to 34 inches in length. It will take a bit of time to break in the bat and it's always wise to have a few extra on hand, in case you have some heavy hitters and a bat ends up splitting. Again, the size is going to be one of the most important aspects to take into consideration here.

There are three especially important features on a glove that need to be focused on and these are the webbing, pocket depth and backs. The webbing is on a glove can be either open or closed. The pocket depth on a glove on the other hand, should be determined based on the field position that you play. The closer you are to home plate, the shallower a pocket your glove should have.

Choosing the right glove size is also hugely important. Remember, your glove needs to fit comfortably on your hand. It needs to be tight enough that it won't fall off and yet loose enough that your hand has enough space to move around. Depending on the make and type of gear you get, prices can vary hugely so have at least a basic idea of what you want to spend before spending any money.
