Russell Chatman: An Angler Art Master of his Own

It is normal that we see people having different talents and passions. From sports to entertainment, to arts and the literature, there really is a very varied world, as far as being talented is concerned. In the world of angling, or generally called fishing, who would have thought that angler art exists?

One popular angler art master is Russell Chatman. Born on October 27, 1939 in San Francisco, California, Russell Chatman lived first around the Bay Area until he finally decided to move to Park County in Montana by spring of 1972. Both as a writer and a painter, Russell Chatman is surprisingly self-taught.

His passion for the art and literature was the factors that drove him to become one of the best angler art master and writer of his own. Russell Chatman's writings and articles include reviews, essays, short stories, write-ups a bout fly fishing, bird hunting, as well as other forms of outdoor activities. Since the year 1958, Russell Chatman has more than three hundred angler art exhibits, all of which are one-man exhibitions. Because of his desire to express what he feels, he does it either by making angler art masterpiece paintings and essays that has truly made him a name worldwide. His angel art pieces have reached in England, in France and in Japan. Though he was already very popular that time, Russell Chatman did not stop there yet. He then began to produce original lithographs in the year 1982, which have further made him very popular worldwide. To date, Russell Chatman is not only a famous angler art master, but also one of the foremost lithographers all around the world.

His popularity for the angler art and lithography, as well as with being his writer, has made him a popular all the more, with his profiles being discussed thoroughly in top publications worldwide. These publications range from the field of angler art to lithography, to some of the famous newspapers all across the United States. Some of these said publications are the Southwest Art, the Esquire, the People Magazine, US Art, Architectural Digest, Antiques and Fine Art, the Denver Post, Smart, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Examiner, the Washington Post, the Seattle Times, the Chicago Tribune, the Associated Press, the CBS Sunday morning, and some other publications that deal with art and literature.

At present, Russell Chatman has continuously shared his passion for angler art, lithography, and literature, by making educational books that inspire the young kids to appreciate and fully grasp the world of angler art. Because of his passion for the angler art and lithography, no wonder Russell Chatman is indeed considered a master of his own craft.
