If you’re new to hiking, then making an effort to know everything that you can about the activity is probably the best thing that you can do to start things off. Before, booking an actual guided hiking trip or calling your friends and loved ones to go with you, it won’t hurt to know the basics that all hikers use all the time in order do survive and have fun. Here are some of them.



One thing that you have to remember about hiking for beginners is that it is best to start with a trail that you are familiar with. Since this is going to be your first time to hike, you would want to take things slow so that you get to experience hiking without having to think of getting lost way too much.



Another thing worth remembering about hiking for beginners is that it is best to get a hiking buddy. You must avoid hiking on your own even if you have already read everything about hiking. This is one of the activities that are best enjoyed with a companion. It also makes things less risky for you. You don’t have to worry about hiking all on your own. You will be able to have more fun and stay safe.



Bring lots of water and food. This is one of the basics of hiking for beginners. Pack dried fruits since they are not as heavy as normal fruits. Energy bars are also a must since you can eat it anytime and it is packed with all the calories and carbohydrates that you will need to make you last throughout the entire journey.



Bring a first aid kit. Most hiking newbie tend to forget this part of the hiking for beginners manual especially if they are thinking of getting a guide. Always remember that getting a guide does not mean that you are completely out of danger. It just means that you have someone that knows the place by heart. You might still fall to the ground or get bitten by some animal.
