STX Lacrosse Stick: History And Some Popular Choices

STX is a manufacturer of high quality gears and equipment for lacrosse. The company began in the 1960's when the founders, who were also lacrosse players, started designing a lighter and more durable lacrosse stick using synthetic materials. Their experiment led to the STX lacrosse stick, which is widely used in the sports today.

The early STX lacrosse stick had a shaft made of hickory wood where the head is attached. This solid head is double-walled and made of Adiprene, a urethane rubber material manufactured by DuPont. Although the first STX lacrosse stick is not as sophisticated as the ones they make today, it made a huge difference and solved many challenges as to how the sport was played.

The first STX lacrosse stick model led to the manufacturing of lacrosse sticks using the same mold and materials, hence, all sticks weighed the same and offered the same flexibility and balance to the players. The revolutionary STX lacrosse stick was awarded the first ever U.S. patent for a synthetic-made lacrosse stick.

As you know, lacrosse has separate rules for men and women. Each division also has specific requirements on equipment; hence, there is an STX lacrosse stick for men and for women. A lacrosse stick has two parts – the head, which is basically a net for catching the ball and the handle, which is the part that the player swings.

When choosing an STX lacrosse stick on the company’s website, you can browse separately for the head and the handle. Currently, there are 15 handle designs and 13 head designs for men to choose from and 14 handle designs and 9 head designs for women.

A popular STX lacrosse stick is the “STX X2 Attack”, which has the combined features of two excellent STX lacrosse sticks the “Excalibur” and “Forward Can't”. It allows for much quicker ball release and more direct throwing. This side walls in this STX lacrosse stick is 2 inches high for ultimate pocket depth.

Another STX lacrosse stick favorite is the “STX Sniper”, which features a unique pocket with a pinched design for maximum control. This stick is light with open sidewalls for great aerodynamics. This is the ideal lacrosse stick for dodgers and feeders.

For the ladies, especially beginners, a great STX lacrosse stick is the “STX Echo”, which has an excellent aerodynamic structure, reinforced pocket and a sophisticated stop area. It’s made for catching and scoring.

Aside from shopping on the STX website, there are more than a dozen online stores where you can compare the features and prices of different STX lacrosse sticks. Alternatively, you can also check the STX website for the locations of their dealers.
