Common Dirt Bike Accessories

Just like automobile owners, dirt bike owners also like to improve and enhance the looks and functionality of their vehicles. To this end, dirt bike owners purchase certain dirt bike accessories, ranging from the most rudimentary equipment to the most advanced.

For many bikers, a Global Positioning System or a GPS is a valuable dirt bike accessory. Through a GPS, a biker will know exactly where he is anywhere in the world as long as he can receive a clear signal from the GPS satellite network.

Since a GPS is a valuable dirt bike accessory, the biker should be careful when choosing one. First, it should be weatherproof. If not, he can buy a waterproof cover for it. It is also a good idea to purchase GPS that have black and white screens. They are easier to read in direct sunlight than those with colored displays. Also, make sure that the GPS has a connector which is compatible with your motorcycle's battery.

A special mount could be installed on the dirt bike. However, the GPS should not be fixed to it. The GPS should be detachable.

Another dirt bike accessory for people who want to record their adventures is the motorcycle camera. With a special mount, most cameras can be placed on the bar. Another variety called helmet cameras can also be placed on helmets.

Just like a GPS system, when choosing a motorcycle camera, make sure that the connector is compatible with the bike's battery.

Another basic but convenient and cool dirt bike accessory would be a mounted drink holder. This is quite helpful when the biker is on the move. A mounted drink holder allows him to reach for the drink quickly. It helps in improving motorcycle safety by allowing the biker to have his hands on the handle bars more often.

Consider this. Without a mounted drink holder, a biker will place that bottle somewhere, say, his jacket pocket. When he needs a drink, he might fumble around trying to get that drink out of that pocket. Thus, he loses his concentration. This might lead to an accident.

For dirt bikers who want to go camping aside from riding on trails, motorcycle leather bags can be a great dirt bike accessory. Strapped to the side of the motorcycle, they can carry a lot of things such as drinks, camping equipment, tools, first aid kits and oil or fuel reserves.

There are a whole lot of dirt bike accessories in the market. It is up to the biker's preference and need on what accessories to buy and install on his bike.
