Designing A Dirt Bike Racing Track

Dirt bike racing usually happens on specially designed tracks. It is hard to contain the excitement when you see dirt bikes roar, jump over obstacles or speed through mud and dirt.

For the race to be exciting, challenging and safe for the racers, the dirt bike racing track must be carefully designed.

The first thing to consider is the size of the land that is going to be used for the dirt bike racing track. The area should be free of trees and most rock. If there are trees and rocks, these could be taken out.

The next thing to consider is the undulation of the land area. If the dirt bike racing track is designed for natural terrain motocross racing, then hills and valleys are perfect. If it is designed for supercross racing style, then very slight elevations and depressions are excellent. The variety of terrain also helps in natural drainage.

Another thing to consider is the surrounding area. The dirt bike racing track should cause minimal disturbance or none at all to neighbors and the surrounding area. Dirt bikes are noisy and if the track is close to a residential area, then neighbors would complain. Keep in mind that tracks are usually dirty and residents might complain about the dust and mud emanating from numerous bikes in the area. Also, security of the track should be given emphasis or some idiot would go to the track, injure himself and file a lawsuit on the track owner.

It's now time to put on the dirt bike racing track layout. Mark the track with pegs and other markers. It is also a good idea to ride the track to get a feel of the ride. Typically, well designed tracks have decent straight length for speed and smooth corner flows.

Once the layout is done, the obstacles can be placed. The obstacles that would be placed will depend on the skill level of anyone who would like to race on the track. The track should be challenging, however, it should not be too difficult that it would discourage racers to try it. For obstacles, the natural terrain is the first thing to consider. High jump ramps and bumps would add to the challenge. Wet soft soil can be used for muddy sections of the track.

When everything is finalized, it is now time to build the dirt bike racing track itself. Discuss the design with a reliable earthmover company. It would also be best to schedule the earthmover company to maintain the track periodically.

When everything is done, the only thing that is needed would be to cut that ribbon and open the racing track to dirt bike enthusiasts.
