Motocross Apparel: Not Only For Style, But Also For Comfort

Motocross apparels are primarily designed to protect the rider from harsh elements (e.g. extreme heat from the sun, rain, cold temperature, etc.). On the other hand, motocross apparel also make the rider look good with the motorcycle. It is one way of "showing off" the rider's motorcycle style.

There are numerous types of motocross apparel available in the market today; from casual motocross apparel to dirt bike motocross apparel to motocross apparel for kids. Casual motocross apparel are generally simple yet high quality apparel. They are mostly used for more stylish look on the rider. Dirt bike motocross apparel are those used for a more exciting ride. Aside from the stylish look it bestows on the rider, it also provide comfort and protection.

Motocross apparels are mostly composed of jerseys, jackets, pants, gloves and boots. Motocross apparel does not have to be flashy. Their primary purpose is to provide comfort and protection to the motocross rider. Generally, motocross riders wear a protective body armor to protect their bodies from harm. These protective body armors are usually made up of composite materials (usually hard plastic but high quality armors are made of Kevlar). They protect the riders against injuries from falls, flying debris and other riders.

Motocross jerseys are usually made up of polyester that provides comfort to the rider. High end motocross jerseys have insert panels located on the sleeve and back to provide ventilation while some have elbow pads. Racing pants are considered as one of the essential motocross apparels. Motocross pants help protect the rider from injuries (e.g. abrasion). Motocross pants are usually made up of nylon or polyester and are usually water resistant / repellant (they are also heat resistant). These abrasion resistant pants generally have "inner knee panel" for knee protection.

Dirt bike gloves are also one of the important motocross apparel that a motocross rider must have. Dirt bike gloves provide better grip on the handlebars and at the same time protect the hand from injuries. There are basically two types of gloves that are used for dirt bike riding, the motocross gloves and the Enduro gloves. The main difference of the two dirt bike gloves is that motocross gloves have less padding on its palm side than Enduro gloves because the additional padding of Enduro gloves are well suited for longer rides.

Wearing the appropriate motocross apparel will not only make the rider look good on the dirt bike, it will also provide additional comfort and protection. Before you go out and ride make sure that you have all the required motocross apparel.
