The world of sports is one of the most dynamic. Every now and then there is a new brand of sport being introduced. Other sport disciplines are just improving and getting more difficult. Just the same it makes a certain sport more challenging and exciting. Such is the case of mountain biking.

There is no doubt that mountain biking is one of the most sought-after sports by all ages and by men and women alike. Both boys and girls also enjoy mountain biking in the same way that their older counterparts do. Needless to say mountain biking transcends beyond gender, age, and perhaps even social status since mountain bikes are generally cheaper than one might think.

This sport is akin to bicycling, though it has more defined and distinct characteristics that set it apart from just mere riding bicycles. The sport is relatively more difficult and demanding as far as the physical make-up of the bikes is concerned. Generally mountain bikes have the same features namely: presence of suspension that is sometimes called shock absorbers, knobby tires, and large rounded frame tubing.

Likewise other aspects like the specified trails, which are more often than not, as the name of the sport suggests, are located in the mountains. Anyone can just imagine riding bikes on mountaintop, following a trail and eschewing all sorts of obstacles on the way to descent. Just the thought of it is enough to excite anyone to go for a great ride.

Mountain biking tests the biker's endurance, riding proficiency, and most of all develop self-reliance. Since this sport is easily performed anywhere a rider likes to makes it more attractive to sports-minded individuals. Most trails are long enough to make a rider feel tired thus a great amount of endurance is one of the most important traits a rider should develop.

Riding skills is not solely limited to the maneuvering of the wheels and taming of the brakes, it also covers having control of the motion while riding, which would certainly require physical strength. Self-reliance is best tested when certain parts of the bike is busted like for example the wheel has a flat tire. Hence it is very important that rider should know how to handle repair works. It is a must therefore that mountain bikers should along with them tools and gadgets.

Mountain biking has many classifications like cross country, freeride, downhill, dirt jump, and trails or street riding. All of which requires certain skills and demands specific expertise. However they all provide a feeling of exhilaration to the avid fans of this sport. Mountain biking is truly one that gives constant challenges and at the same time the one that help develop ones self-reliance, endurance and strength.
