Fascination of NASCAR Drivers

The most vibrant element in a whole car race experience is the personalities these NASCAR drivers bring into the sport. These drivers come in with different backgrounds, car racing experience, complexities, life issues, etc. And these NASCAR drivers contribute different things into the sport, which makes watching such car races more interesting and exciting.

One of the most popular NASCAR drivers is Dale Earnhardt Jr. He was born October 10, 1974. His official rookie season was in 2000 in which he won the Texas and Richmond races. He did not win though the prestigious Rookie of the Year trophy, which was then awarded to Matt Kenseth. Winning the Busch Series championship in 1998 and 1999 highlighted his career. Also in 2003, he had his career best NEXTEL Cup points finish at third. His hip image gained him the support of younger NASCAR fanatics.

We then have Jeff Gordon who was born on August 4, 1971. He officially started racing in 1993. He won a 125-mile qualifier for Daytona, and got the 1993 Rookie of the Year award. He won four NEXTEL Cup Championship in 1995, 1997, 1998 and 2001. Jeff Gordon is known to be able to come out a winner despite the circumstances.

One of the most talented NASCAR drivers is Jimmie Johnson. He was born September 17, 1975. In 2002 he had 3 race wins. He did not get the Rookie of the Year in 2002, which was then awarded to Ryan Newman. In 2003 and 2004, he finished second in points behind Matt Kenseth and Kurt Busch respectively. He is under the wing of the famous Jeff Gordon, and with his talent, he is sure to continue making waves in NASCAR.

If you are fond of NASCAR drivers with interesting personalities, we have Tony Stewart on the list. He was born on May 20, 1971. He is known for his temper and his hard-line style in car racing. Hitting drivers on the track and on the pit road, his driving style was known and defined to be over-aggressive. He won 3 races in 1999 in his rookie career. One of his major achievement happened in 1995 as being the First Driver to win the USAC Triple Crown – Midget, Sprint, and Silver Crown Championships in the same year. He was the 2002 NEXTEL Cup Champion, and won this again in 2005. In 2005, he seemed to have better control of his temper and himself, and this signals for better things & championships ahead.

NASCAR drivers definitely bring in more to the sport than their talent. With their interesting background both in their personal lives and in their racing career, their distinctive lifestyles & life stories, NASCAR aficionados can't help but be mesmerized of their NASCAR heroes.
