Girls Rock Climbing

Are Girls Rock Climbing?

You'd be surprised to know that there are more and more girls into rock climbing. What was seen generally as a man's sport is now practically overrun by the female equivalent of the human race. Are girls rock climbing? You bet they are.

In the past, the inherent difficulty, requiring extensive usage of strength, plus its near inaccessibility had made rock climbing not only limited mostly to males, but also to a fewer enthusiast of the sport.

As any of you can remember far, rock climbing surfaced as a necessity of climbing rough terrain in mostly alpine regions, such as primarily in the Alps. And speaking of the Alps, it is one of the densely populated alpine regions in the whole world, that it is not hard to assume that there we should have a couple of girls rock climbing. But since rock climbing in these days are generally unknown to the rest of the world, comparing the minority against the ratio of the rest of the girls in the world, it is of no consequence. In the late 1800 and early 1900, rock climbing gained rapid interest as the Alps became to be known better by the rest of the world. Still, rock climbing this time is a gentlemen's outdoor recreation, so at large, a meager few females take part of rock climbing.

Enter the 19th century, the advent of synthetic materials, and the new face of advertisement. Now not only the Alps are revealed to the world, the sport of rock climbing is introduced as the next outdoor pursuit of general interest next to golf. Men from all over the world started rock climbing. Indoor rock climbing facilities sprang up by the dozens to cater the demands of gentlemen who can't leave the confines of the city to do rock climbing. It also inadvertently aroused the interest of the female sex. And due to its now saturated difficulty, more and more females are attracted to rock climbing, rapidly gaining and rivaling other prominent outdoor activities, such as cross country trekking and fishing.

Public awareness on health and lifestyle also played a larger role in promoting rock climbing to the opposite sex. As of now, more females are apt to be health and figure conscious than males. They spend more time on health facilities and actively engage on sports than men. And due to the new and more appealing face of rock climbing, there are more and more girls rock climbing. There are even as young as 10 years old girls rock climbing.
