What's In A Scuba Diving Watch?

Scuba diving has definitely become a worldwide phenomenon, both young and old are on this bandwagon. Well, it's not because they just want to be one with the crowd and because they want to be "in", but rather because of the feeling, contentment and satisfaction that one will find or get after such fulfilling experience.

Because of this, many capitalists has invested on this as well, there are those who are into resorts, gears, boats, equipments, etc. And one of the most notable and important gadget there is now is a scuba diving watch. Rarely if not never, can you see a diver go into the depths without this. Whether you are a learner, seasoned diver, professional or instructor, a scuba diving watch should be in your checklist when you pack your things. It's not just because you want to know how long you've been down under water, but also because you want to time and regulate the activities of your physical self and environmental surroundings.

So, what makes a scuba diving watch different from the other watches? It's because of the additional functions and features needed while diving or while under water.

There is actually two basic distinguishing factors of a scuba diving watch. First is water resistance, which should be able to go below to 300feet, or can sustain atmospheric pressure. This is not the same as a "waterproof" watch because on the surface, this may prevent water seeping into the watch's interiors but when you dive to 50feet or below, it will not be saved anymore. Second is the adjustable bezel, which is the rotating dial on the watch, it is used as a pointer indicator, to determine how long you have been submerged. This bezel is compared to the minute hand to know the length of time.

Men and women have different preferences in a scuba diving watch, it's up to you to choose the one which suits your personality, skill and need.

There are many scuba diving watches in the market now, and if you want a scuba diving watch for men, probably as a gift for your brother or dad or husband or a loved one, then you can choose from a variety of models and designs by Citizen, Seiko, Casio, Suunto, Luminox, etc. If you plan to give your mom, sister or a special woman a good scuba diving watch, then you can get it from a selection of diving watches from St. Moritz or Delmar.

Just make sure that in your next diving trip, you are wearing your scuba diving watch to keep you in tune and in time with everything.
