Surfing is definitely a fun sport to do. However, there will come a time where surfers will want to experience more challenging and more extreme waves. So, just where can one find these extreme waves? If you are already an expert surfer and you want to test your skills to the limit, here are some of the most extreme waves that the world has to offer.

First of all, you need to remember that surfers measure waves from the back. What this means is that if the biggest wave of the day was 30 feet according to the surfers, you will find that the people watching on the other side of the wave will be riding a wave that can be as high as sixty feet. Imagine, if you surf a wave like this, it would be like running away from a collapsing six-story building.

This wave is rarely surfed as it is dangerous and most surfers prefer using body boards as the waves here breaks on to shallow rocks. The Cribbar can offer 30 foot waves that are very powerful and fast, which is not recommended for the inexperienced. To surf the Cribbar, you will be towed by a jet ski in to the monster wave. This wave is so dangerous that only a few people ever dared to surf it. Making a mistake can result in disastrous consequences.

Tahiti is known to be one of the most popular destinations for big wave surfers. Although the waves here are dangerous, you can't help but admire the sheer beauty of it. Teahupoo, Tahiti will be able to provide you with some of the best extreme waves that you will ever ride in your life. However, keep in mind that the waves here have claimed lives, so you might want to think about surfing the big waves here first as it even brought one of the best big wave surfers, Laird Hamilton, close to tears after a fantastic ride.

In South Africa, you will find Dungeons, Hout Bay. Here, you will be able to experience surfing extreme waves that can be very dangerous. Surfers will need to use jet skis and charter boats in order to reach the surfing destination.

Belharra, France is another fantastic spot for big wave surfers. Located 2 kilometers outside Saint Jean de Luz in the French Basque region, you will see that this wave can be very dangerous. Surfing here is for expert surfers only.
