A Penguin Swimming In The Ocean --- An Amazing Natural Wonder

Penguins are great creatures --- they are unique and different, their bodies are made perfectly for them to survive in their habitat. Although they are birds, they are better at swimming than flying. Penguin swimming above the surface and under the water allows them to prey and survive. Their bodies are simply equipped with proper gears --- insulating and protecting their body from heat or cold weather and temperature. Also, it keeps them away from predators on land or under the sea.

Penguin swimming in the cold ocean is an example of how adaptive their bodies are, the penguin’s wings allow them to swim fast --- like flying in the water, and their thick feathers and fats keep them warm. Their black and white body colors serve certain purposes as well, for example, a penguin swimming under the water especially in dark depths of the ocean is protected from being seen by predators because of the penguin’s black back, while the white front protects them on the surface, as the sun shines through their white bodies shielding them away from other creatures. Also, while on land, the black feathers of their body entrap the heat of the sun keeping their bodies warm.

A penguin swimming in the ocean is not unlikely because penguins spend most of their time in the water; they only move to land for breeding purposes. They are simply at home in the sea. They are actually fast swimmers because of their paddle-like wings that make them glide in the water, their breasts that are made of fully developed muscles allowing them to propel in the water, and their dense bones that help them overcome the buoyancy of water. A penguin swimming or a penguin diving under the water slows its heart rate to reserve energy, but inhales and exhales rapidly when it comes to the surface. Penguins adapt to their environment, its body can release or conserve energy and body heat when needed, this is due to its natural thermoregulation feature that their bodies have.

It’s truly a wonder how the penguins’ bodies --- from its feathers, feet, bill, color, muscles, and blood flow --- let them survive the harshness of the environment. So, when you go into the cold oceans or penguin habitats, and see a penguin swimming, know that it’s an amazing creature, they are given wings not to fly but to swim, and they are given tuxedo-like attires not for show but for success to survive.
