Tennis Lessons through "Warrior System"

Tennis instructor and webmaster of On The Line, Dave "Caveman" Winship, said that "learning how to play the sport from instructional books or magazines without a personal guide can be very hazardous." However, without the access to a trainer should not be a hindrance for you to have your tennis lessons.

For it to be sheer handy, here is an adaptation of the "tennis warrior system" by Tom Veneziano, an expert tennis coach for over twenty- five years now. Eventhough he encountered several injuries, it did not stop him to retire from the game and advance on to teaching. He was forced to stay at the sidelines because he can no longer hit a tennis ball but watching his' students' executions allowed him to develop a whole new perspective. His viewpoint is a combination of excelling in the areas of mental (strength of mind) and physical (strokes and techniques). Veneziano further explained that a "tennis warrior" is a thinker who has absorbed the art of being rationally sturdy. It is not just reserved for professionals but at every level of play, be it from a beginner.

Veneziano's tennis lessons' for metal toughness is the "accumulation of valuable information that can be utilized at the proper time." According to him, there are a lot who take tennis lessons who understand the logic but only few choose to put it into application. He downsized the impediments into three reasons: nobody ever told them, clinging unto incorrect preconceived notions and controlling thinking with emotions. To combat those, Veneziano came up with the "mental toughness sphere". It has eight gates namely: refocus technique, relax technique, freedom to go for your shots, orientation to tennis reality, mastery of positives and negatives, momentum confidence, match play system and mental toughness. The philosophy behind staying in the "mental toughness sphere" will let your "thinking control your emotions that lead to the correct decision- making process and a relaxed mental attitude".

Next part is Veneziano's tennis lessons' for physical skills. He said that the important key is repetition. By a constant repeat of the skills acquired it will enable one to be proficient in whatever he or she does and studying the tennis lessons are not an exemption to that, Veneziano expounded. Another he touched on is emphasis, where he said that when you "obviously highlight the technical there is a great tendency to become reliant to play well and win". He also made mention about mastering the vital strokes in tennis such as forehand, backhand, volley, serve and overhead.

In conclusion, absorbing whatever tennis lessons there are, all boils down to you. Getting familiar with the common and on to the higher level is a decision to be made by the individual himself or herself. The tennis lessons on hand nor the trainer cannot do it for you. It is just a matter of convincing yourself that you can even when it does not seem like you can.
