ARUBA CRIME

Nothing beats going off on a vacation without constantly looking behind your back. So many times have we heard stories regarding tourists who have been stripped off their belongings while walking along the street. A trip to Aruba does not entirely keep you safe from bad elements that may want the stuff that you have. However, Aruba crime is very low and does not require you to keep your money stashed inside your socks!

Aruba is one of the safest Caribbean islands. Aruba crime is relatively low, allowing guests to spend their vacations with peace of mind. Evidence of a stable government and economy accounts for the less percentage of Aruba crime. Tourism which is being promoted extensively points out Aruba as being an upscale island. There is the absence of vendors, street beggars, and poverty that are so common in other places. This is basically one of the reasons for the low Aruba crime rate. Most of the population have high standards of living and only a very few of them are out of work.

Safety is a right and not an option. Aruba crime rate may not mean that petty crimes like pickpockets and purse-snatchings are unheard of, however, it is still one of the regions with the lowest crime rates. There are instances where car thefts, robbery, pickpockets are reported by tourists. But all these can be avoided. And there haven't been any Urban Legend kind ever, as part of Aruba crime.

Generally, it would be safer if you travel with a friend, rather than alone. Walking along dark streets, especially unfamiliar ones, should not be made into an adventure trip. Well, unless of course you are really out to get a taste of what Aruba crime is about. Concern for oneself and your belongings will dictate your safety. Overly displaying your wealth may earn you more than just everyone's stares. Also, even if Arubans are generally friendly, don't be too trusting. Why would you get into a car driven by someone you hardly even know? Likewise, why would you let someone hitch a ride with you when you even barely know his name?

Since car thefts have been reported as an existing Aruba crime, it is highly advisable to make sure that you have read the vehicle lease contracts. The rental contracts will state the insurance coverage of your rented vehicle. You don't want to end up paying for a car you can't even use anymore.

Aruba has its share of crimes. True. But it would not earn the highest repeat visitor rate if it was unsafe for tourists. People came, and these people come back. And for the Arubans, that's the best form of "thank you".
