Of course there are other choices of seafood that is definitely this relatively little island's specialty like the snapper, dolphin fish, barracuda, and fresh prawns that will never fail to make every diner salivate and ask for more.

Cou-cou is Barbados national dish is a combination of a cornmeal and okra pudding. Other pudding that tourists should not miss trying is the pudding and souse, a sweet potato perfectly steamed that is served with pick pork in onions, peppers, and lime. Pepperpot, is locally called cohobblopot is mix of okra and spicy meat in stew. Okra seemed like very abundant in Barbados that Bajans have growing fondness of the vegetable.

Like in many countries in the world, street food is also a common sight in Barbados. When in Barbados fishcakes top the list of the delicacies peddled in the streets. Saltfish cuts into bits are what mostly make up the fishcake, thus the name and probably the taste.

Perhaps Bajans know only of one drink that can truly challenge their discriminating throats that they adore rum so much. Rum bars are ubiquitous in the island serving bottles to all the guest who are itching to party till dawn. A social life in Barbados always goes with a bottle of rum.

The food and drink in Barbados is one of the many reasons to stay in for a couple of days or more. You simply can't say no when a plate of dish or a glass of rum is served.
