Budapest is considered around the world as the City of Spa. Do you know why? It simply was born to possess a number of healing spas on earth. Yes, Budapest has a lot of spas where you can enjoy swimming while benefiting from all the possible healing properties that the waters can give.

The Budapest spas are housed beautifully in some of the city's well-established baths and spa centers. The water at these spas naturally comes from the city's geothermal springs which since time immemorial are considered as highly medicinal. What's further nice to know about these Budapest spas is that some were developed with Turkish origin, which is still preserved until these days.

Below are three of the major spas in Budapest:

Szechenyi Spa

Located in a lush green area at the City Park, the Szechenyi Spa is one thermal bath that serves the public for years now. It is considered throughout Europe as the largest in the continent. It was built and developed featuring a neo-baroque style of architecture and was enlarged to further accommodate a number of people. Today, this notable spa in Budapest features an in-door, as well as open-air areas for an enjoyable bath.

Gellert Spa

Of the Budapest spas, the Gellert Spa is the most well-known. It is known not only in Budapest and Europe, but also in other parts of the world. Aside from being well-known, the Gellert Spa is also the most favored.

The Gellert Spa is located at Hotel Gellert, which was founded in 1918 with an art nouveau style. According to several reports, the water in this spa was already utilized by the early medieval people for several health purposes. The Turkish who have conquered Hungary had also used Gellert Spa as their bath house in the 15th century. It was reconstructed and developed though due to certain destructions in the area. It is nice to know that this place is currently offering not just medicinal water, but also a great environment.

Rudas Bath

Here is also Rudas Bath, another well-known thermal spa in Budapest. This spa center is supplied by about 21 thermal springs of different names. It is located on a hill, and is considered throughout the city as the largest spa on the Buda hills. The original bath at this site was built in the 14th century, and several parts of it boast certain ruins and memorials of the 15th and 16th century when the Turkish ruled the city. Of the Turkish spas and baths in Budapest, this is said to be the most remarkable. It is housed in an octagonal building where sauna, an indoor swimming pool, and dental shower are included for people to use and enjoy.

Note that the thermal water coming from these Budapest spas are noted for its capability to heal dermatological and even hereditary problems. Several recent researches have also revealed that the water at these Budapest spas can help cure even the digestive and nervous system imperfections.
