China Vacations With Mickey Mouse

When looking at a China vacation package you might be surprised to learn that there is a little bit of America in one of the biggest Chinese cites. In the city of Hong Kong, there is a Chinese Disney World. It was built by the government of Hong Kong and the Walt Disney Company in 2005. Since then the park has generated joy and entertainment for millions of Chinese and international tourists that have visited Hong Kong. The complex has a Disney theme park and two hotels to host the visitors. Sitting on almost three hundred acres of expensive Hong Kong real estate the park offers dining and shopping just like its American and European counterpart.

During your China vacation you will be amazed to learn that the Disney Company is trying to do the same thing that did when they opened up the Disney theme park in France. They do not want to take away from the local culture but to blend the culture into the park. Main Street U.S.A. will not be a feature here, but you could go for a ride on a Chinese barge or have your picture taken with a caricature of Mao Tse Tung. The buildings were built with the Chinese culture in mind as each ballroom was constructed with eight hundred and eighty eight square feet which honors the numbers of luck. There was even an incense burning ceremony as each building completed construction.

Don't be afraid of language barriers when you go on your Chinese vacation. The park's employees not only speaks the Cantonese and Mandarin languages, they also speak English. You won't have to make hand signals and read difficult signs in this park, you just have to walk up to an employee and ask. With this friendliness and politeness the Disney executives project that he park will attract up to six million visitors in the first ten years of its opening. Most of these visitors will come from mainland China, but there is a projected figure of at least two million coming from America and Europe.

The Disney Company is already planning a second phase for your China Vacation adventure. They want to add a Frontier land and a Mickey's Toontown on the land next door to the original park. The only fall back is that the government of Hong Kong wants to sell the land at a much higher price than the original park and it may take a few years of negotiations. No matter what the outcome is in phase two of the project, you can visit Hong Kong Disneyland and at the same time experience the culture and the history of the area. You can see famous Chinese architecture alongside the Victorian influence of the English occupiers who gave up their rights to the city almost a decade ago. You can sample the local foods and when you have had enough of the Chinese culture, you can see a little bit of home by revisiting Disneyland and feeling more at home.
