Learning The Protocol For Doing Business In China

More and more people are looking at China as a place to do business. However, people from the outside must be aware that there are certain things that they must adhere to in order to have smooth business transactions within this global market.

When you arrive in this country, you are required to have a passport for identification. You will also need a visa. You will need these two pieces of documents event when you're completing your registration to find somewhere to stay. It doesn't matter where you look to stay, you must have both pieces of identification available.

If you staying with a local family, you need to submit a report within 24 hours if you're staying in a local neighborhood; if you're staying in the country, it is 72 hours. All business persons are required to do this, regardless of where you stay.

The global market has provided many opportunities for business people. It opens up the way for to have import and export businesses. Lots of people come to China for that reason.

Not only will you need the documents to get in the country, you will need them in order to do business there. This is true, especially since there are areas in the country that won't allow you to do business unless you have them.

While doing business in China, you have to act professional and give the locals respect. You are on their turf now. China is poised to be one of the countries in the top ten global markets to do business.

The business sector keeps growing and growing and you will probably have more people coming overseas to do business with China within the next few years. Business travel companies have also taken notice of this trend.

When doing business in China, you must adhere to the business procedures of the locals. You are to wear suits that are not flashy, but should be suited for business. When addressing the locals, you should address them address them by their last name and include a title, such as Mr. Ms., etc.

If you are not that familiar with them, it's best not to use their first name. The more formal you are, the more highly the locals think of you. This shows them that you're giving them the respect they deserve.

The business work week in China is six days, Monday through Saturday. It starts at 8:00am and ends at 5:00pm. However, if you're doing business in one of the larger cities, you will probably have a five day business work week.



If you have to go to one of China's government offices, any day except Friday is fine to go. That's because they set aside time for the government officials to do some in-house training.

As with other countries, such as the United States, the local government offices are closed on public holidays. There are other holidays when they are closed that include: May 1 and October 1. China celebrates a unique holiday called the Spring Festival. This is a holiday that lasts five days and the Chinese don't work for those five days.

As long as you adhere to the principles and guidelines of doing business in China, you'll be able to succeed in making a profit.
