One of the most notable theatre groups in Cyprus comes from the famous capital, Nicosia. The Nicosia Municipal Theatre company was the brainchild of the Nicosia Turkish Municipality and was established some time in the 1980s. This group runs a regular performance but they are more in the running during the winter season. Other famous group is the Guzelurt Theatre Association or the Gusad was founded years after the Nicosia Municipal Theatre was borne. It is also responsible for many regular performances hence becoming one of the most celebrated groups.
