Grand Canyon Visit

What can be more exciting than a trip to one of the greatest natural wonders of the world? What is there to expect aside from having your vocabulary restricted to the frequent "oohs" and "aahs"?

If you're planning a Grand Canyon visit, you're only one of the five million individuals who troop to the canyon each year to experience what mother nature has to offer. And just like any other trips you are going to make for the rest of your life, there are things that you should be well-aware of.

Some months bring in more crowds than others. So if you want to avoid having to share good viewing spots with a hundred other guests, don't let your Grand Canyon visit fall during the fall, spring, and summer months. The park, during late fall or early spring has fewer visitors, so it's best to make your trip within these times. If you're only interested to see the South Rim on your Grand Canyon visit, anytime of the year is a good time. However, if you're planning to see the North Rim as well, you won't even get a peek of it between late October and middle of May every year, as roads are closed due to heavy snow.

Accommodations shouldn't be a problem during your Grand Canyon visit. Hotels are available within the Grand Canyon Village which are all under the management and control of the Xanterra Parks & Resorts. Since you can't underestimate the number of park guests, it is advisable to book in advance. However, if you fail to get a room, there should be one available for you in Tusayan, located a mere 7 miles outside the park.

Your Grand Canyon visit will not affect your eating patterns or habits. There are several cafeterias, snack bars, and restaurants within the Village, by the campgrounds, and in the RV park. El Tovar Hotel houses a very famous restaurant which would require you to make advance reservations if you wish to dine there. Another classy dining place is the Arizona Room. No prior bookings are accepted, and you need to be there way before sunset just to get seated.

Before you finalize your Grand Canyon visit though, make sure you know what the trip involves. The park's trails has downhill treks and exhausting uphill hikes after. The canyon's hiking trips are so challenging that everyone comes out fatigued – fit individuals included. But just the same, the hikes have been achieved by senior citizens, children, and even those with disabilities. So what's stopping you?
