Hilo is a small town in Hawaii’s Big Island that is not just full of beauty but also, culture and class. Considered as the biggest of small towns in the Big Island, Hilo has three great not to mention active volcanoes at its vicinity. The Mauna Kea which is considered as the tallest in the world, the Mauna Loa as the most voluminous and the Kilauea, the most active of the three and has never stopped erupting since 1983. This great ensemble of three makes the biggest and most visited attraction in Hawaii, the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Hilo’s Farmer’s Market
If open markets are your thing then you have come to the right place. Hilo’s Farmer’s Market is known as the best in Hawaii in this category. More or less 250 local farmers and also crafters set up stalls here to sell their products here like fruits, vegetables, fish, crafts, jewelries, tropical flowers and also baked goods. Held in a festive and colorful outdoor ambiance, the Hilo’s Farmer’s Market is open only Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Hilo Art Galleries
A lot of talented artists live in Hilo tha’s why Hilo Art Galleries are a must see when you visit the Big Island of Hawaii. These galleries are can be found in apt wooden buildings that are an art also to begin with. Many of these are located on the National Register of Historic Places. But aside from local art, these art galleries are also filled with great international pieces. Art galleries that are really impressive are the Chase Gallery and Grove Gallery.

Palace Theater
A beauty in structure, The Palace, as it is commonly called, is a place made of redwood. Visit the Place after a long and busy day of sightseeing and spend a relaxing night watching live theater, films, special events and concerts. It is also noted fir its beautiful pipe organ.

Pacific Tsunami Museum
Tsunamis are scary but they are also interesting. In this one of a kind museum, tourists get to know Hilo’s frightening encounters with tsunamis. This informative and fascinating museum is located at the First Hawaiian Bank Building which is found on Kamehameha Avenue.

East Hawaii Cultural Center
Considered as the heart of Hilo’s arts scene. Look through the galleries downstairs for exhibits by different artists. Shop for well-priced local art in the Main Gallery gift shop. Attend one of the performing arts events, in the upstairs theater space or outside on the steps. This historic building was once the old police station and courthouse of Hilo.

Lyman Museum and House
This culture and art center was put up on 1839 by missionaries who are American Christian in honor of Hawaii’s heritage. Married couple David and Sarah Lyman married together New England and Hawaiian architecture in this project. Travel back in Hawaii’s rich past when you visit the Lyman Museum and House. Two of its major galleries are focused into the history of the paradise island of Hawaii and the many different cultures that serves as the island’s heritage’s foundation .
