Population Of Indonesia

In 1993, 188 million was the estimated population of this south eastern country in Asia. In every square kilometer in Indonesia, there were 94 individuals but with huge diversion because there were some provinces found to have 500 such as in Bali or 4 such as in Irian Jaya.

Ethnicity
The population of Indonesia can be divided into different tribal groups. Javanese has the largest number that composes 45% of the entire people in the republic. The Sundanese followed with 14% and trailed by the Madurese with. The rest of the 33.5% are locals who reside outside the borders of Java. On another note, there are about four to five million with Chinese ancestry that are spread all throughout the state. Even if their descendants had a difficult time with the Dutch, they have remained to be successful, not only in settling in the land but also in business matters.

Campaign
In the past few years, the population in Indonesia has declined due to the program entitled “Dua Anak Cukup” (Two Children Enough) initiated by the government. Apart from which, it is said that a factor that led the growth rate to waiver was the rising number of mothers who were much concentrated in pursuing their secondary studies therefore delaying their time for having a child. However, the said reason can be dominantly seen in the metropolis as compared to the provincial areas.

Language
Weird as it may sound but the speaking tongue has also contributed to the population of Indonesia. The state is known to be the largest archipelago in the world which follows that there are a lot of islands comprised with each having their own culture and tradition as well as means of verbal communication. It has been said that there are 250 dialects spoken by the citizens which happens to be unique in every region belonging to the country. But there could more than 250 dialects.

Education
Majority of the population in Indonesia are considered to be well- learned and the level of literacy in the republic continues to advance. Back in 1991, 77% of the natives in the whole country can already read and write. Albeit, most are only up to elementary while secondary and tertiary have increased slowly. About 85% of the campuses are owned by the state but there are also private institutions where of the affluent class can avail. There are also Islamic schools that encourage students to read Koran and study Arabic.

Over the years, there has been a plethora of changes that affect the population. Even in the midst of modernization, Indonesia is grounded on family. Many Indonesians believe that a family is the basic unit of society.
