Special Features For Luggage Bags

If you’re in the market for a new luggage bag, did you know there are now some special items that are available with some brands and types of luggage bags? In fact, it is unusual now to find a lightweight carry on luggage bag with only a case with wheels and a handle. Most have a divider between the upper and lower halves, or there can be a strap to help hold your things in place, but here are some other excited options in luggage bags.

External Pockets

When you have a pocket on the outside of your luggage bag, you can use it for putting things you want to be able to get to quickly and easily – like your airline tickets or your passport.

Some pockets on the outside of the bag expand outward to make the total dimensions of the bag larger, so it can hold more. Be sure that expanded it will still fit the size you need it to!

Suit Carriers

If you need to carry a suit or two with you, try getting a carry on with a suit carrier within it. Rather than the fold-in-half type of suit carrier, they are a fold-in-thirds type.

Removable Compartments

If your luggage bag has a removable compartment, you can fill it with toiletries or make up at home, hook it into the bag for travel, then upsnap it again to take it to your hotel bathroom for use. Convenient!

Waterproof Compartment

Some luggage bags have a place where the traveler can put wet things. You can’t leave them there too long (for fear of damage of mildew or must), but it can be a real help for a short time, like a place to throw in your wet swimsuit after swimming that last morning at the hotel. Just be sure to take it out upon arrival at your destination.

The waterproof section can also hold things that could leak. Most people use a plastic bag of some sort for this when they travel – to hold their shampoo, condition, perfume, lotion, etc. If the suitcase comes with a waterproof section, no need for an extra bag – and you’ll know right where it is at all time.

Self-Repairing Zippers

Getting a luggage bag with self-repairing zippers is a smart idea. Many come with the nylon zippers now – rather than metal. Also, be sure that the zipper pulls look and feel sturdy enough. If they break off, it often makes the luggage bag unusable because you won’t be able to open and close the bag. This is particularly true if the zippers are the type that are self-locking, where they release only when the zipper pull is used.
