Panama Immigration

If you want to immigrate to Panama you must first get to know the Panama Immigration Law. There are lots and lots of laws regarding the Panama Immigration Law. If you want to immigrate to panama and you are not born in Panama or if both of your parents are not Panamanian, you are required to have a lawyer to become a legal immigrant in Panama. The government of the Republic of Panama has made several Panama Immigration Laws so that foreigners will be able to obtain legal Panama Passports and residency.

Most of these Panama Immigration Laws are created to develop the foreign investment of the country by which the local environment and local economy of the Republic of Panama will benefit. There are some Panama Immigration programs that offer permanent residency which will lead to passports, and some of these are designed to serve as work visa only.

The benefits of a Panama Passport or the residency benefits of having a Panama Passports applies to those who want to make the tropical country of Panama as their second home; they are advised to secure a Panama Passport. For those who want to purchase a yacht in Panama and would like to make Panama as the base of the yacht a Panama Passport is required.

Some of the visas that the Panama Immigration gives to non Panamanian citizens to live in the country are the General Investor Visa, Export Processing Zone Investor, Agro-forestry Investor, Small Investor, Pensioner Retiree, Retired Investor, Colon Free Executive, Farmer Visa and the City of Knowledge Visa.

The General Investor Visa holder must have at least $100,000 invested on a business that the government of Panama must consider socially beneficial. The Export Processing Zone Investor Visa is given to those who have invested at least 250,000 dollars in Fort Davis or any of the export processing zones. The Agro-forestry Investor must invest at least 40,000 dollars on a reforestation project. The Small Investor Visa are given to those who have invested at least 10,000 dollars and must employ a minimum of three Panamanians on a small business (must be an officer or manager of the business) that the government considers beneficial.

The Pensioner or Retiree Visa are given to those who have showed a retirement or disability pension from another country that states a monthly income of at least 50,000 dollars with an additional of 100 dollar per month for each dependent. The Retired Investors are given to those who are retired and have a certificate of deposit from any Panamanian bank and must have a monthly income of at least 750 dollars. The Farmer Visa is for those who have invested at least 40,000 dollars on a producing farm in the country while the Colon Free Zone Executive Visa is given to those who held an executive position on a firm doing business on the Colon Free Zone. And lastly the City of Knowledge visa is given to foreign students, professors, or administrators affiliated with the City of Knowledge.
