Panama Tourism

There is no doubt why Panama Tourism is vigorous. It is because Panama offers various tourist attractions including wide range of tropical landscapes, protected rain forest, exotic wildlife, pristine beaches, cloud forests, historical sites, beaches, coral reefs, deep-sea fishing, and great flora and fauna. That is just to give you a quick taste of what Panama tourism has to offer. Unquestionably, Panama is found to be a true-to-life tropical paradise for nature lovers and outdoor adventures.

Panama may not be economically dependent on their tourism industry, but they have potentials more than they’ll ever know. There’s the famous attraction, the Panama Canal, which is one of the greatest engineering feats of the 20th century and a major attraction for cruise-ship passengers and those who prefer smaller boat tours. Since it took control of the Panama Canal 7 years ago, Panama has been in the process of developing its potential. More and more luxury hotels are built. Some would even remark that Panama is more appealing than the neighboring Costa Rica, and since it’s still less popular, travelers find lower prices, less populated areas, and a feeling that you’ve somehow discovered a well-kept secret.

Panama City is the country's capital and the principal commercial center. It lies on the Gulf of Panama in the Pacific Ocean. Colon, the country's second largest city, is located on the Caribbean Coast. Its economy is dependent on traffic through the Panama Canal and on business activity in the Colon Free Trade Zone, the largest duty-free zone in the Americas. It is also the only city in the world in which a protected tropical rainforest can be found within city limits. Yes, that is true! This is one of the reasons Panama tourism is sought after by many visitors, making it in some way interesting and exciting.

The country has many and varied outdoor attractions from the mountain region of Chiriquí to the beaches on the Caribbean coast. Actually, there are several superb Panama tourism activities that you can easily participate in like golf courses in or near the city and beach areas. The food is great, in which it can satisfy even the most discriminating palate, and so is nightlife. There are many ways to see Panama, many like tour the city on foot, sampling the sights, sounds and tastes of the city as they go. Others prefer to take a less energetic approach and avail of one of the many tours available. Panama is a city that will capture your heart in many ways.

The Panamanian Institute of Tourism or PAIT is a government body that promotes Panama tourism in general. Panama’s variety of travel products that PAIT are supporting include the ecotourism, sport or adventure tourism, archaeological tourism, historical tourism, and meetings and conventions on a global scale.
