Centre Pompidou: A Must Visit Paris France Attraction

Are you planning a trip to Paris France? If so, once you have made your travel arrangements, you should shift for your focus to what you can do and see. If architecture is an interest of yours, you will love a visit to Paris, as what you will find will amaze you.

When it comes to great pieces of architecture in Paris, the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe are often the first that come to mind. Yes, these beautiful landmarks are beautiful in design, but there is another attraction that you must visit. That is the Centre Pompidou. The centre is also commonly referred to as the Beaubourg.

So, what is it that makes the Centre Pompidou a must visit? Just that, the architecture. Have you seen a building where all modern conveniences were located on the outside, as opposed to the inside? If not, you will do so here. At the Centre Pompidou, all lifts, escalators, and other conveniences are on the outside of the building. This was done to allow maximum space usage on the inside. Not only has the Centre Pompidou done that, but it has also created a must visit attraction.

Once the building of the Centre Pompidou enters into your eyesight, you will want to enter right away. After all, it is a unique experience riding an escalator or riding a lift up along the outside of a building. With that said, on the ride up, you will be pleased with what you find inside. The Centre Pompidou is not just an attraction that you walk up to see and then walk away. Instead, it is one that you can stay at all day. That is another reason why this establishment is worth the visit.

Inside the Centre Pompidou, you will find the Musee d'Art Moderne. At the top, you will be able to see the rooftops of Paris. You will find bookshops on the ground, fifth, and six levels. A design boutique named the Printemps Design Boutique, which sells items for home décor, is found on the ground level. As for food, you will find the Restaurant Georges, which is not only known for their tasty food, but their architectural design. For convenience, fast food eateries are located on the first and second levels.

The Centre Pompidou is also home to regularly scheduled special events. These events include concerts, traveling art shows, contests, and much more.

The history of the Centre Pompidou begins in 1968. The project was ordered by then French president Georges Pompidou, hence the name of the center. His goal was to create a large center in the heart of Paris that relied on modern architecture. Doors were first opened to the public in 1977. Not long after, a new renovation project began. The center was once again opened to the public in January of 2000. The renovations made included an expansion of space for the museums.

In some ways, the Centre Pompidou is considered a hidden treasure. Although an estimated five to six million people visit the centre each year, many more pass up the opportunity to see this majestic building. Why? Because many tourists do not take the time to research area attractions before their Paris arrival. Since you are not making that same mistake, you will be pleased with your trip to Paris and stop at the Centre Pompidou.
