Best Organized Tours in Tahiti

If you are the type of person that likes to enroll in organized tours, Tahiti has no shortage of companies that offer well thought out itineraries for your touring pleasure. And while they have their brochures and reservation desks in many hotels, you may want to call ahead of time. In no particular order, following is some of the best companies you should call ahead to enroll in their tour of Tahiti.

Adventure Eagle Tours will take you around the coastal road that encircles the island. Yes if you only speak English, this one is for you. Proper English-speaking William Leteeg grew up on the island of Tahiti and is glad to tell you all about his experiences and adventures when growing up there. His International number is 77.20.23.

A couple more companies based in Tahiti which offer tours are Tahiti Tours, telephone number 42.78.70, and their website is Tahiti-tours dot com. Tahiti Nui Travel is another. The telephone number is 42.68.03, and the website address is Tahiti-nui dot com.

You should also check out Marama Tours. Their telephone number is 82.08.42, and their website is maramatours dot com. Marama Tours charges $50 for a half day tour and $75 for the full day. Expect to pay entrance fees to any museums and any other attractions you may stop at. They also stop at Restaurant du Musee Gaugin for lunch and you are expected to cover your own food expenses should you choose to eat there.

What about a spectacular helicopter tour of Tahiti? Most any hotel's activities desk will assist you in booking a helicopter tour. No, they are not cheap-after all we're talking about helicopters here. Expect to pay about $160 per person, per 20 minutes. If you want to fly on over the neighboring island of Moorea then expect about $250 per person for a 35 minute flight. The helicopter will not go up without a minimum of four paid passengers, either.

If you'd rather stay on the ground and enjoy an adventure into the inner parts of the island, as most of Tahiti's 150,000 plus population lives on the outer edges of the island, then a Safari Expedition is right up your alley.

The best of the few companies that offer Safari Expeditions is the Tahiti Safari Expedition. But if you're not up to riding in the back of open, four-wheel drive vehicles, than this is not for you. But if you're on the fence about whether or not this is for you, just think about the truly spectacular views you will get to see that simply aren't possible from the beaches and such around the rest of Tahiti.

The usual paths the four-wheel vehicles take are through the breathtakingly beautiful Papenoo Valley. Tahiti, as you may already know is an island as a result of two ancient, inactive volcanoes. So the higher up you go, or the farther you go inland and up, the cooler the temperatures get, very refreshing. One thing to bear in mind when planning your Safari Expedition is to make sure to do so on a clear day, or else the expedition will be limited in all of the places the company will go. It's simply a matter of safety. The usual cost for any of the Tahiti Safari Expedition companies is about $55 per person, per half day trip.
