Hotels of Tahiti

If there were one hotel on the Isle of Tahiti you should certainly consider when choosing where to stay at, Tahiti Le Royal should be that one. This small and intimate hotel sits on the east coast of Tahiti where the velvet black sand beaches and the clear turquoise waters meet.

Sitting right on one of the black sand beaches, Tahiti Le Royal offers what many of Tahiti's hotels don't -- the rarified up close and personal view of a black sand beach. Beautiful in its own right, Tahiti Le Royal is in a beautiful garden setting complete with swimming pool.

Its restaurant and bar are strategically set at the edge of the gentle lagoon it faces. If you want a very relaxed setting, and rarer views than what you would see on the western side of Tahiti, then I'd strongly consider you stay at Tahiti Le Royal.

Switching gears to a much bigger and busier hotel, the Tahiti InterContinental Resort is one of Tahiti's foremost hotels. As big as it is, you would think it would be an eyesore. Quite the contrary, Tahiti InterContinental Resort blends well amongst its acres and acres of lush tropical gardening and its unique multi-colored lagoon. It also boasts one of the best, if not the best view of the nearby island of Moorea.

What's also great about staying at this hotel is the access to the private white sand beaches. When you're not exploring the private beaches or the lush gardens, you may just want to hang out on your private balcony, as every one of them provide for some breathtaking scenery.

Speaking of private balconies, the Tahiti InterContinental boasts over 270 ocean view rooms and private and romantic overwater bungalows. All of the rooms are equipped with modern amenities.

Additionally, the Tahiti InterContinental has two pools, both equipped with poolside bars. Tack on two restaurants and lounges, and for the golf enthusiasts a driving range, putting and pitching greens and what you have is a world class hotel with all of the extras.

The Radisson Plaza Resort and Spa is another resort hotel that offers a lot of bang for the buck. One of the best things going for this hotel is its restaurant. The Hiti Mahana offers both inside and alfresco dining, making it the trendiest restaurant going on the island. Of course there are other very cool restaurants on the Isle of Tahiti. It's just that this one is the ‘it' spots to be, perhaps too, because the resort is brand new.

The hotel is located on the East Coast of Tahiti, specifically on the French-named Lafayette Beach. As with some other select hotels, on particular nights, a spectacular Tahitian dance show is performed at dinner time. One thing you certainly want to check out at this hotel is the Lafayette bar, above the restaurant. The views of Matavai Bay are simply spectacular.

The last hotel in Tahiti we're going to look at is different in that it is located in Tahiti's capital city, Papeete. Hotel Tiare's downtown location gives you the ability to take advantage of being inside the bustling economic center of not only Tahiti, but all of the 118 islands in the chain. Papeete is the economic center, hands down, and that's what you get if you stay at Hotel Tiare.
Don't mistake it's location for a complete sacrifice of what one comes to Tahiti for to begin with. From the hotel you still get great views of the Papeete harbor, the Tahitian sunrises and sunsets, and the island of Moorea.
